Wanuskewin Galleries Mission Statement

Wanuskewin Galleries provides gallery space in which Indigenous artists can present and develop their work on both a professional and creative level. We are committed to showcasing the work of Indigenous artists, curators and creators, uniquely suited with Indigenous consultation and control to give an accurate representation of Indigenous ways of knowing.

Wanuskewin Galleries will develop, present and promote media, visual and performance art by contemporary and traditional Indigenous artists, framing all programming and exhibitions within Indigenous worldviews. We will facilitate the development, presentation and promotion of works by contemporary and traditional Indigenous artists, along with historical exhibits, allowing the preservation of Indigenous artistic practices and allowing Indigenous self-determination and self-representation.

Wanuskewin Galleries would like to graciously acknowledge the support of all our donors and sponsors, as well as our major funders.

CALL FOR ARTISTS!

We are looking for emerging to mid-level artists for a group exhibition titled love stories from the land. This exhibition is open to Indigenous artists from all mediums. The theme is Strength in Our Land, highlighting the vitality of Saskatchewan’s natural resources with a focus on the many aspects of the ecology of the grasslands. Five artists will be selected to exhibit in our gallery from August-November 2023. Each artist will be paid CARFAC artist fees, as well as an artist talk fee if they choose to participate in the opening event.

There will be a priority to Saskatchewan artists.
